Bentley 3.5 Litre

The 3.5 Litre was the first Bentley built after the company was acquired by Rolls-Royce. Sometimes referred to as Derby Bentleys, the cars were also the first built in Derby at the Rolls-Royce facility.

Like the Bentleys before, the cars were actually just the chassis, drive train, and bulkhead. Customers then hired a coach maker to complete the car according to the client's specifications.

The 3.5 Litre earned it's name from its 3.5l inline six cylinder engine.

Bentley 4 1/4 Litre

Towards the end of the car's production run, Bentley enlarged the displacement of the engine to 4 1/4 liters by lengthening the stroke. The increase in power was necessary because of increased competition and the demand of couch builders, whose additions added weight to the car.
